Former people pleaser here who was used to living my life for the comfort of others. I always sought out approval and validation from my loved ones for my decisions, even if I knew deep in my soul that it wasn’t aligned with my best self. Growing up I had so many people around me trying to tell me who I was and box me into a person that they felt more comfortable being around, but I knew I was destined for more. I was always itching to tap into my potential, but didn’t know where to start.

When I first started showing interest in the Entertainment Events Industry, I noticed that everyone around me was taken back by my decision. Some of my loved ones supported me and cheered on my pursuit to help with live entertainment events, while other loved ones acted concerned for me, saying that I would never last in the industry nor was my personality cut out for it. These projections only motivated me to pursue my passion because I knew they were wrong about my potential, and I knew deep in my soul that this industry was calling my name for a reason. 

This is when I stopped letting other people’s opinions of me hold me back and started stepping outside of my comfort zone to create the experiences that I needed on my resume to have a solid career in the industry. Even if it was unpaid, I said yes to everything that would get me the experience I needed to become a well-rounded professional and networked my way into making connections with other professionals to learn more about the skills I needed to be successful in the Entertainment Events Industry.

Following my graduation from Central Michigan University, opportunities started flowing my way instantly. I was hired as an intern for some of the industry’s top entertainment companies, Live Nation and 313 Presents. These internships further fueled my passion for live entertainment events, and I was falling more in love with the industry every day. I found my calling and knew it was something I wanted to pursue a full-time career in, but the internships were only temporary.

Shortly after my internships in 2019, the COVID pandemic hit and my life and career were at a standstill. As someone who always kept herself busy with plans or productivity, I didn’t know where to turn and what to do with my time, but I always reminded myself that soon the world would open back up and live entertainment would need workers more than ever.

So, I took life into my own hands and did anything I could in that moment in time and said yes to whatever opportunities came my way to further expand my skills and experience. I even co-coordinated online Zoom events with DJ DC Productions for The University of Michigan State’s Economics student organization… What a crazy time we lived in!

Although I knew that live entertainment events would come back one day, I still had my doubts and felt defeated by the lack of full-time positions available in the industry. I took my first full time job as a Community Events Coordinator for my hometown, Canton Township. Looking back now, I was incredibly grateful for the events experience, but I knew I was destined for more.

Once I realized that I was settling, and I was reverting back to my people pleasing ways by not showing up authentically, I spent the majority of the next year in my own energy and got to know my shadow self. I spent a lot of time getting to know who I truly was without the projections of other people’s expectations and limiting beliefs that I had absorbed from my past that were subtly holding me back.

I tapped into my potential with newfound confidence, and I started to see how I could show up for myself in a way that would lead to positive change towards my dream goals, both personally and professionally. I truly felt like a butterfly who had just broken out of the cocoon I kept myself in for way too long. Then shortly after, I finally started my full-time job in the Entertainment Events industry as a Corporate Partnerships Coordinator (now Manager) with 313 Presents.

Going through this experience showed me that although I saw myself working in the Entertainment Events Industry for the rest of my life, I still wanted to give back to those who had been in my position before I created the career of my dreams. This led me to becoming a certified Life Coach who could lend a healing hand to those who needed empowerment along their journey of tapping into their potential. Not only did this Life Coaching certificate change me for the better, but I realized that empowering others to become their best selves was always a skill of mine. 

Working as a Life Coach has only validated that I’ve always been the daughter, sister, girlfriend, friend, coworker, neighbor, and citizen who brought welcoming energy, listened by really putting myself in their shoes, pushed them outside of their comfort zone, gave them healing advice, and encouraged them to go after everything they want in this lifetime… I just finally had a certificate to make it official. 

I share my story to express how passionate I am about chasing after your dream reality in this one life we have to live. I wasted too many years sleeping on my potential and shrinking myself for the comfort of others and I don’t want other people to make the same mistakes that I made.
